Auron is a creation of Square Soft, and is a central character to the story line of the game Final Fantasy X. He is a protagonist in my fan fiction works, Legendary Guardian, Destiny Divides, Braska's Journey, and Bonds of Love. His official character description by the company reads: Male - Age 35. A legendary guardian who defeated Sin alongside High Summoner Braska ten years ago. A man of few words, he leads Yuna and Tidus on their mission to defeat Sin again. He wields a powerful sword, which is capable of inflicting great damage on enemies with tough exteriors. As you can see from the pictures at the left, Auron at age 35 has seen quite a lot of action. He's graying and has a nasty scar where his right eye used to be. He wears a red robe, reminiscent of a kimono over a breastplate and slacks. A wide obi-like belt, with buckles, cinches his robe closed and a large jug (similar to a tokkuri - or sake server) hangs from his right hip on a strand of colored beads. An epaulet made, seemingly, of tooled leather graces his left shoulder and has decorative crystals and feathers attached to it. Auron wields very large swords of various design during the game. When you are ready to fight, the sword seems to simply materialize. No indication is given as to where the warrior stores his weapons. He also keeps his left arm tucked in his robe sling style. This was a habit of masterless Samurai, or Ronin, who considered themselves to be extra handy with a sword. Since Auron's character is, within the game, VERY good with his weapon we can assume that Square was implying him to be quite the "bad ass." Young Auron wears the same kind of clothing and uses the same weapons, but is missing the amice (or cowl) attached to the breastplate of his armor. He also does not wear sunglasses. The hair is bound in a ponytail but is not shorn short in the front and is missing the gray streaks of his older counterpart. In the context of Legendary Guardian, Auron is brought from his humble birth through the beginning of his Journey with Lord Braska to defeat Sin. Braska's Journey attempts to follow Auron's 25th year as he travels Spira with Jecht and Lord Braska to defeat Sin.Final Fantasy X alludes to various portions of Auron's life from age 25 through age 35 (the period during which the events of the game take place). At every opportunity, I have referenced dialogue and situations from the game in an attempt to keep my world of Spira, and my characterization of Auron, true to the spirit in which Square created him. I reference a translated script of the Japanese Final Fantasy X:International release as well as one of the US release to this end. The additional stories of Destiny Divides and Bonds of Love are romances set within the context of LG and BJ. While they stay true to my vision of Auron's life, and sometimes include spoilers for the FFX game, they are largely completely outside the realm of cannon.
Last, in creating Auron's character (and later that of Braska and Jecht) I used the Kiersy Temperment Sorter. Auron is an ISTJ according to my interpretation. If you aren't interested in checking out the full profile explanation, here's a smattering of info: |
